INDOOR SEASON STARTS!

TEAMS VIE FOR THE IMMORTAL SPARTAN CUP

FAW SuperStar Sean returns to the Pitch!
VFB Spartans Dynamo:
You guys had the short straw this week, playing against the permanent champions Durham Lions.

I'm not sure why these guys are in our league, since all they do is pummel teams by a wide margin weekly.

Very few teams can stand against them.

For us, the problem of putting together a bunch of guys into a team is exemplified by playing this team.

But we fared well, and made a good account for ourselves.
Getting beaten by a foe such as this is no dishonour.
And it can hone our skills for future meetings.

Colin was excellent in net, in his first game in more than 20 years (LOL)

Remember too, that indoor is a fast game.
Be prepared for quick kicks and throw ins.

As well, the REF quality is sometimes off and on in this league.
We need to remember that going forward.

TSV Spartans Lokomotive:
The Hammers are not an easy team by any means, and we kept right on top of their attacks.

Ross made some incredible saves in his return game.
There were some great chances generated, including those from Curtis and Stephen.

The only goal that came against us was "one of those".
But they count, and despite our efforts, we couldn't equalize.

This week we'll be looking to gel with our team mates and scoring some goals.
As well as keeping them out of our net!

Energie Spartans FC:
The longest running of the Spartan teams took some time to get acquainted with themselves.

We let our opponents get a few easy rushes on us, and communication was a big issue.

There was a bit of rust on the team, and I'm not talking about the jersey colours.

Captain Terry was instrumental in reorganizing us, and getting the team on the right start second half.

Adam started the team off, by touching the twine with a great shot.

After that the team opened up and it was only a matter of time that the game would be won.
Unfortunately, time ran out before that point...but next game will be different.

Coverage of No. 14 was all so important in containing the opponents.
And that was a great team effort!

INDOOR FOOTBALL BEGINS

THREE FOOTBALL TEAMS VIE FOR THE SPARTAN CUP!

Welcome to the indoor season Spartans!

This year, as part of our expansion, we welcome VfB Dynamo Spartans!

There will be many fine teams arrayed against the Spartans.
Some will be beyond our abilities.
But most will be competitive.

The motto for the teams are:
Learn, Adapt, Overcome.

These have so many meanings, but to me, it illustrates our continuous ability to improve ourselves.
It doesn't matter if you don't have skills to match the opponent.
What matters is your want to become better than you were.

This year we have lots of exciting "fun" things for our players.
Look out for them!

And above all, enjoy your time with your team mates!

SPARTANS END SEASON

LAST WORDS FROM THE BARON

Spartans!

It was a great year.
At least I think so.

At the beginning of the year, we were untested, not a team, and didn't operate well with each other.

Over the months, I saw a transformation.

We began a passing a game, and improved each match.
At the end, I can honestly tell you this was the best passing we've had in years.

Many of you started with little or no experience.
But you practiced each game, and by the end ALL of you had surpassed what you came in with.

Our motto: Learn, Adapt, Overcome.
You were successful in all three.

And let's not forget:
The BBQ's
The Fan Appreciation Day

This team did it's best to defy the odds.
And we did it.
We grew as men, and were better for it!

I hope to see most of you back for next year.
And next year, we'll have even more fun!

SPARTAN TEAM COMES TOGETHER

TEAM WORK BRINGS ITS OWN REWARDS

Nelson makes the save While Tom and Baron look on!

Spartans!

What a game it was.

We went in with the lowest of expectations.
After all, the top team won by a landslide.

Opening off was Ramon, who was back with his old team.
Not playing but a special guest on this day.
It was good to see him, and we hope to have him on the pitch next season!
A speedy recovery to you sir!

The fact of this game was that we were critiquing ourselves.
We knew that it would take a special circumstance to beat them.

Our passing was crisp.
We didn't give up the ball as often as we did in the past.

We had some good runs.

We had some excellent plays.

Most of all, we operated as a team.
Perhaps...
If it had been any other team, we would have won or tied.
And that's saying a lot.

Well done men!
