A GOOD EFFORT

SECOND WIN OF THE SEASON

Baron Says:
"Winning is always a good feeling, but when you play against weaker opponents, remember that your tricks might not work a second time."

ANALYSIS

It was a good game.
There was communication. There was a lot of heart on the field.
We had plenty of chances on net. It's a surprise that we weren't up by more.
We controlled the game for 80% of the match. They had a few chances, but not many.

We had no substitutes with which to start the game. Two did arrive, which were welcome additions, but the team looked tired as the game progressed.

Overall, it's hard to judge the game, since they were definitely not playing at our level.

It was a fun win, and I'm glad that many of you took the opportunity to try new things and we had a few new scorers.

WHAT TO NAME A CHILD

NEW ADDITION TO SUPERSTAR KRIS' FAMILY CAUSES ISSUES

Is Kris a Father again?
Celebrations abounded at the Spartans home office as Golden Orange Super Star Kris recently received a new addition to his family.

"I'm stoked," commented Kris, the former Bayern Munchen player," and having a baby just tops off this great season I'm having."

"I guess he keeps scoring both in and off the game," laughed Captain Baron," and that's alright, because we'll need good players in the future."

Mr. Ajax, long time nemesis and challenger to Kris' rise to stardom was more reserved in his appreciation of the events.

"I wish Kris and family the best of luck. I would be in the same position, if it weren't for my F--ked up foot. Once I'm better, we'll see who scores the most."

As the "Kris is a Father Again" parade turned from Simcoe to Centre in Downtown Oshawa, Fans and Foes alike shared drinks and stories.

"Last time the Spartans won a playoff game, they almost burnt down the city," related Mayor Tommy Shanks," so this time we're a lot happier with the results."

"I really want to thank the fans of this amazing club for being around and supporting me in this time of hardship. After all, I was up for extended hours, had to listen to my wife scream her head off, had to sleep on a couch without a hangover, and take time off work. Despite doing all the work, I'm willing to let the fans decide on the name for the child. See my poll on the Spartan site!"

And will the new boy join his Dad on the pitch in a few years?
"If he's half as good as his father, why not?" replied The Baron

COACH's CORNER: GAME SIX

FAILURE OF TEAM WORK LOSES THE GAME

The Baron Says:
"Individual efforts are part of any game. But to truly win, one must incorporate their efforts into the team flow. Without that, you are certainly lost."

SYNOPSIS:

Not everyone was on the height of their game play. Easy shots were missed, and no one seemed to play with a good rhythm.

At times we looked like we couldn't buy luck.

THE GOOD:

We gave it a good go. For at least half the game we were able to keep it in their end. There were some good moves out there. Kevin's goal was a right place right time.

THE BAD:

We need to communicate more, and LISTEN to that communication. TALK, TALK, TALK.

THE UGLY:

We need to remember the flow of the offense. Don't move away from the ball. Move into a position where you can receive the ball, and then judge on where you want to pass it.

DON'T kick the ball just for kicking sakes. Have an idea where you want it to go before it leaves your foot. IF you don't know where you want the ball, how in blazes is the ball going to hit one of our team mates?

THE PLAN:

We operate with our 3-4-3 formation.
One defender can act as a mid-fielder as long as he has the legs.

The midders MUST cover the defense, and then move the ball up to the forwards.

The forwards need to stretch the opposing defense, and work together on attacking.
