SPARTANS WIN THE CUP

TEAM ENDS YEARS OF DROUGHT IN FINE FASHION

The Team Raises the Trophy
After years of disappointment and dismay, our local heroes have finally captured their first "C" Cup win after three years of drought.

"It's a great feeling," revealed Baron, who alone is the only member from their previous C Cup win," to hoist that battered trinket of victory."

Darlington Crew came out strong, and probed the Spartan defenses often, only to be stymied by resilient undertakings. In fact, Darlington Crew had only two shots on net the entire game.

"Wait, did we win? The Games over?" keeper Kris queried after falling asleep within the pipes. Despite his slumber filled game, he completed the first clean sheet in Spartan history.

"The team did extremely well," commented Anders, who was not present during the game."I can only guess that we scored, had some assists and made some saves."

Things started quickly for our home town heroes. A quick attack and the Spartans were up by one. A later goal put things well out of reach. 2-0 at the half.

Darlington Crew came out strong again, but the Spartan defense thickened, and fizzled any attempts to get within the 18. From there, the team struck against their opponents, but in the air of fair play, didn't capitalize on their beaten foes.

"It was obvious that the Spartans could have won 10-0," commented Gerry Dobson of TSN," but they played like true heroes. Sportsmen they are all!"

Never to be one to be left out, the REF decided that it was time to clamp down on a game that was winding down.

A red card was given to Darlington Crew, which opened the flood gates despite best intentions. The ball slid in two more times.

At that point, and another red against Darlington Crew, the DC captain took his team off the field.

The Spartans had proven that team work, well rehearsed, could win the day!

From all Spartan Fans everywhere, we extend our appreciation to the Local Heroes for a job well done.
