SPARTANS WIN MATCH

HIGH FLYING TEAM WORKS WELL FOR THE WIN!
Fans Come Out and Aren't Disappointed
"I feel good," said Coach Baron after the come from behind victory,"and so do the lads. It's a good time all around."

Things started quite poorly though, when the opposing side got their first goal.
"It was a weird bounce," commented Keeper Mark," and it just got past me and the guy walked it in."

Things started to improve, especially when Abe went into the 18 all alone. Tackled from behind, the penalty kick was not stopped, leading Dismo to his first goal in a while.
"I visualized a goal," replied 'Mo to reporters," and so it was."

Minutes later, a misjudge by the Spartan defence left Mark alone and a goal against him.

Things jumped back and forth during the first half, with the Spartans looking a bit off centre. With so many missing on the pitch, it looked like another disaster in the making.

With minutes left to play in the first half, Abe sent a beautiful corner kick against the far pole, and Carmen was there to send the header home.
"It's all precision timing and workmanship," stated Carmen,"almost like that BMW that I want to own. BMW is the choice of champions like me!"

At the Half, Coach Baron let loose with the customary Oranges and mid game analysis.

Spurred on by the words of their Mighty Coach, the Spartans looked like a team possessed.

Shot after shot went to the DFC net. Off the cross bar by Dismo. Just missed by Sam. Where was Dave to down a passing Air Liner?

Then the unspeakable!

Matt, having proved this day to be his and his alone, took a pass from Ian and made no mistake. It hit the twine and the celebrating Spartans were on top to stay.
"I felt a lot of confidence today," revealed Matt," and figured that I'd take the defensive hole to pocket my goal."

"I have a lot of respect for Matt today," laughed a joyous Baron,"he showed a lot of heart and probably played his best game today."

With the Spartans smelling blood, they attempted time and time again to get another goal.

It would be Paul, with this second of the season, to send the game out of reach.
"For a while I was trying stuff. But I decided to use my height and here we go!"

Fans were overjoyed by the win, and the excitement spilled into Downtown Oshawa. Numerous arrests were made, including members of the FAW for public urination.

"Overall it proved that we were capable of winning," Coach Baron professed," and that we can work as a team. Next week's game will be more difficult, but the lads can pull it off."

OUT MANNED SPARTANS DESTROYED

LACK OF SUBS KILLS CHANCES FOR HOME TEAM
Carmen Works his Magic
"The only thing that beat us was our lack of substitutes," said Coach Baron in a post game interview.

Indeed, the Spartans looked fresh and excited...all nine of them as they started the game. The score was quickly 1-0 for the Visitors.

Luckily, albeit late, their team mates arrived, but not in sufficient numbers. Coach Baron and Ian were forced into play just so that their mates could catch some air.

The Spartans made some nice plays, and seemed to control the ball more with their own pace in mind.

But the large picture showed that the offensive couldn't deliver much needed shots on the twine.

By half time our heroes were down by two.

The Second half started well, but the tired Spartans could only muster a few half hearted attempts.

But with Ian on the offensive, a blooper was misjudged by the enemy defense and Carmen curved a beautiful shot past the diving keeper.

"I love those shots," explained Carmen," and I'll do it again. Just watch me."

But with their opponents changing regularly, the mid-fields and defense started to run out of gas.

"There's lots of things to consider," stated Coach Baron,"and one of those is that if we make call ups, some of the team won't be playing."

SPARTANS TEAM UP FOR THE WIN

DEPLETED VILLAGE INN TEAM DOESN'T FILL ROSTER
Downtown Oshawa endures Spartan Fever!
Spartan Fans were overjoyed with the first win of the second half of the season.

"It may not have been the prettiest of wins," stated Coach Baron," but it's a win, and a team win at that."

The team came together when it counted the most. With the long weekend in full swing, many decided to avoid the game alltogether.

"We had a full squad, plus one substitute," said Coach Baron," and that's all we needed."

The Village Inn, long time rivals of the Spartans, couldn't muster a full squad. They left the pitch in disgrace, but not before enjoying leftovers from the cottage.

"I personally want to thank each team mate that decided to come out and hit the pitch. I know that it was a long weekend, and that the schedule got screwed up, but in the end, a full team did show. And that's what team play is all about. I mean, we could have taken the double forfeit. But by having a full team, and a substitute, we send a clear message to the League that we're passionate about Football...that we care, and we won't let the team down when the team needs us the most!"
