SPARTANS WIN FIRST OF SECOND HALF SEASON

CONVINCING WIN SEES OVERALL GOOD TEAM WORK

COACH's CORNER:

I was very impressed with the way the game went.
We had a lot of hustling, a lot of heart, and most of all, a lot of team work.

We took our shots from all over the field, passed to people who wouldn't normally get the ball. When they covered Kris, we got the ball to Tyler. When Tyler was covered, Mike was there to smash it into the net.

What we need to do in future games is remember how passing and shooting worked. Although I had a horrible shot that game, the fact that I was able to break away and shoot made them cover me as a legitimate threat. Remember that if you ignore players, it will come back to haunt the team. Their team will begin to notice who's getting the ball constantly. And that's no good.

Mike had an excellent game in net, facing a few shots from a determined Darlington Crew team.

John "the WildMan" came into his own last game. Having initially played in goal, John has grown into a threat within the mid-field, setting up our offense.

I can also say that I really enjoyed playing. Darlington Crew really tried, but didn't play dirty or rough. I love games like that, because it reminds me of why I abandon my family for two hours Sunday nights.

The next few games will be much more difficult. But as a team we can certainly do it. All we need to do is remember to have fun and play like a team.
