SPARTANS LOSE CLOSE MATCH

FINDING THE TWINE SEEMS TO BE A HARD JOB!
Sam Jockeys for Position!
After last week's disaster, many of the Spartans were looking to secure Third place in the league against cross town rivals Gold.

Things began poorly for the Spartains, half way into the first half.

Baron deflected a shot, which was poorly cleared, to an awaiting opponent. While the first shot was saved, Baron couldn't cradle the ball, and the open player took the rebound into the net.

This seemed to ignite the Spartans, who roared back, tying the game close to the half time whistle.

It was Trevor, of all people, whose amazingly powerful kick hit two posts and went in.

"I like the sound of that," laughed Trevor, who now joins the roster for the Golden Pear.

Not to be outdone, during the opening of the second half, Anders continued his streak and netted a sweet goal.

"I want to thank all those that support me in my bid for Golden Pear dominance," shouted out the mid-fielder in apparent retort to post game words from Dave last week.

Baron seemed to be on top of his game, stymieing shot after shot from the Gold strikers.

"I've seen Baron in this mode before," commented a fan,"in the FAW just before a clean sheet. He's definitely in the zone."

Unfortunately things did not turn out well for the Spartans.

After a great defensive play between Baron and Tyler, the Spartans decided to give the game to their opponents.

A bad clearing attempt in front of goal found a Gold striker, who quickly pocketed it past the bewildered Baron.

"I never expected that," he stated.

The game tied, the final minutes saw the game lost. A quick kick from an unmarked striker found its way through past Baron, who didn't even see it until too late.

"It's a true shame to lose these types of affairs," related Captain J," but it goes to prove that we can't let our lapses show at critical moments. Chalk this one up to experience."

Dave Suspended
Super Dave was given the night off by management after uttering "discouraging" words in a post game interview last week.
"I was a little drunk last week, and the Taco Bell was getting to me. I have the utmost confidence in my team mate, and wish him well as he loses the Golden Pear."

Spartan Subbing to Blame?
"Except for the first game of the year, Spartan subbing has been exceptionally bad." stated TSN's Gerry Dobson."They need to run at peak, and sub at a reasonable time. They almost gave away a goal during a really bad sub. On other times they stay too long and drag their heels like pregnant yaks."

Where are the Oranges?
Baron, known for his sharing of Oranges during the outdoor season, is facing ridicule off and on the field for the lack of citrus sharing.
"There's no food on the indoor pitch," explained Baron,"which is unfortunate since since I do like the taste of the fruit at half time."
