ONE WEEK TO THEIR FIRST GAME

WILL NEW PLAYERS HERALD NEW SUCCESS?

I'm often asked if this season will be better than the last. Will the Spartans make a run for the cup, or lose players to injury and end up running out of gas.

It's a tough question to answer. We all want to win. But most of all, we all want to have fun. Why else do we leave our homes on a Sunday night to run after a ball?

With new players comes new potential. But it can also cause miscues and miscalculations. Be patient with your fellow team mates. Don't be worried to make those errors. But worry about learning from them. The worst thing a player can do is not learn from experience.

NOTES:
We are playing under the lights for our first game. I would advise you to bring insect repellent. The Mosquitoes will eat you alive as the sun gives way to the stars.

Since a team will be playing before us, it's critical that we get our uniforms on and hit the field as soon as we can. Goalies will need to warm up!

They are now in.
Please email The Baron to pick up your jersey.
They are rather smart, of good quality and will serve you well for years to come.
The shorts and socks may not fit your requirements.
Keep in mind that you can use your own socks and shorts if the ones provided can't fit.
First come, first Serve. I cannot reserve your shirt.

STRATEGY:
Since we haven't played as a unit, but many of us have played together, I want to play with a more defensive laden formation.

3-2-5-0

3 x Defenders will consist of left and right defenders and a Sweeper.
2 x Centre Backs, which act as offensive defenders
5 x Mid-Fielders, this gives us presence in the midfield and allows natural forwards to emerge.

Remember that we sub...I want clean runs and work, and then sub off to recuperate.
No man should play the entire half without subbing at least once.

Initially I won't assign positions to players.
Last year we assigned: Defensive unit, Mid Field Unit and Offensive Unit
This year I want a few games for everyone to try out positions and work to know each other.
You will eventually gravitate to a position where you are strongest!
